Super Bowl Halftime Show

Janet And Justin Super Bowl Halftime

The Janet Jackson Super Bowl controversy involved what the press referred to as a "wardrobe malfunction," in which the singer's right breast was revealed when Justin Timberlake ripped her bustier at the end of the duet they performed together during the half-time show of Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, TX on February 1, 2004. Due to the large amount of complaints from home viewers to the Federal Communications Commission, legal action took place just three days after the event, on February 4, 2004, with Terri Carlin, a banker from Knoxville, Tennessee, planting a lawsuit against Jackson and Timberlake for indecent content during an internationally televised football game. He claimed that the act was purposely intended to gain publicity and profit for the networks, CBS and MTV, the latter of which funded the performance. Though evidence suggests both networks were aware of the scandalous content of Jackson and Timberlake's duet of "Rock Your Body," CBS and MTV refused to confess to having known about the exposure beforehand. The Federal Communications Commission fined 20 CBS owned television stations across the country, resulting in an overall fine of $550,000, which, at the time, was the highest ever made against any one network. The Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident resulted in provoking harsher government action against television decency violations, as well as putting pressure on several television and radio networks to tone down raunchy content. Pictures of the Super Bowl Halftime show are found anywhere online. Especially after such controversies involving the bare-breasted Janet Jackson and dumbfounded Justin Timberlake during the 2004 halftime show. People demanding all information about the show and that were not present luckily can find plenty of very close-up and in depth media in the form of pictures, articles, and videos simply by searching the internet.

Prince Superbowl Half Time Show

Following a reportedly unimpressive opening rendition of the "National Anthem" by Billy Joel, pop legend Prince gave an energizing performance at the February 4, 2006 Super Bowl XLI Halftime show. The show was performed at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida to a worldwide audience of roughly 1 billion people. The entertainer, famous for his spectacular live shows, arrived on a stage shaped like his abstract symbol sporting a tight blue suit and a black do-rag. He blew audiences away with performances of his hit songs, including "Let's Go Crazy," "Proud Mary," and "Purple Rain." During "Proud Mary," in an elaborateness truly Prince-worthy, a fully equipped marching band strutted up and down the field in sync to the song's tune. Magnificent lighting effects dominated the performance while Prince worked his finger magic on the guitar. The show was sponsored by Pepsi and produced by Don Mischer Productions and White Cherry Entertainment.
