Best Super Bowl Commercial

Do you remember the Michelob commercial where a group of friends is playing an intramural, co-ed game of touch football? A girl ruffles her opponent’s hair and lets him teasingly know she will be wide open, only to find herself tackled by him full force, and laid completely out? What about the Tabasco ad that shows a man enjoying a large amount of the spicy sauce? This one results in a mosquito exploding after he dares to land on this man’s knee. Or did you see the one for Pepsi Twist where the Ozzy Osbourne family turns into the Osmonds in a dream sequence? And Ozzy wakes up next to Florence Henderson instead of Sharon? These are just a couple of ads that have been remembered over the past few years and it is hard to determine an all-time favorite, but it has been done. There are many lists that you can find online from major networks like ESPN and MSNBC that share the same classic favorites.

Top 10 Best Super Bowl Commercials

Both ESPN and MSNBC feature top 10 lists of the best Super Bowl Ads of all time. There are several of the same on both lists, like an early 90’s McDonald’s commercial called “The Showdown.” In this spot, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird are playing the traditional game of Horse and the winner gets a Big Mac. Each shot becomes more precarious and absurd, but with these two legends, we find it almost believable. Another one the graces both lists is a late 70’s Xerox commercial featuring “Monks.” As one monk grows weary of copying ancient scrolls by hand, knowing he needs 500 copies, he tosses his quill pen and opens a door in his room to a modern copy room for all his Xerox needs. The number one ad on both lists is a 1984 commercial from Apple in which a Big Brother-like atmosphere is destroyed by one out-of-the-box thinker. Famed director Ridley Scott took the reigns on this one and it is the most storied Super Bowl commercial of all time.
