Super Bowl Spread
Super Bowl Point Spread
A “point spread” is the number of points estimated to be separating the two teams at the end of the game. Another way to bet is to guess the number of points that will be scored by both teams in a game. In gambling, you must either pick over or under this total. You pick over if you think the teams combined points will exceed the number set and you pick under if you do not believe the two teams will reach the number set by odds makers. To give an example, if the Detroit Lions are playing the Houston Texans in this year’s Super Bowl and the point total is set at 48, you can bet on the two teams not reaching that total (under), or you can bet that they will score more than the number (over). This is the source of quick money for some experienced and knowledgeable risk takers. However, a game can be deemed no action if the total of the Lions and Texans game equals 48. There will be no winner or loser when a tie occurs and the money that the bettor placed would be fully returned. There is no concrete way to bet on the Super Bowl spread, a good deal of luck sometimes is the only thing that will put money into your bank account.
Super Bowl Spread
The Super Bowl spread is not determined each year until the Conference Championship games are set. Unlike odds, these do not come out at the beginning of the season because it is impossible to set the over/under on the point total if you do not know the four teams that potentially will be involved in the match. Based on the offenses and defenses of the teams involved, they will set the point spread accordingly.

There are many websites out there that will give you information on teams, player injuries, and streaks, all important things to consider when you are picking the over/under on any game. Statistics are useful to check, as well as past successes or shortcomings when certain players and teams face teams they have played earlier in the year. Doing your homework will certainly give you an upper hand against your competition. Looking at past point spreads, odds, and lines also can help you maximize your profits. One must be sure not to get too deep into debt, as gambling has ruined many families and lives.
NFL Super Bowl Point Spread
In Super Bowl XL in 2005, the spread was -4 in Pittsburgh’s favor. Pittsburgh ended up winning the game by over four points, so everyone who bet the Super Bowl spread in Pittsburgh’s favor guessed correctly and came out a winner.
