Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions fans are a group that you really have to respect. Through the years the Detroit Lions have struggled to find themselves. During the last twenty years only a few times did the Detroit Lions really have something to cheer about. It seems no matter what the Detroit Lions would try bad things would follow them. The Detroit Lions would usually get some good players, but never enough to really make inroads in the NFL. Players like Bobby Layne and Barry Sanders were two players who played very well for the Detroit Lions, but never got all the success they had hoped for. Barry Sanders did all he could do to carry the Detroit Lions as he may go down as one of the best rushers of all-time. Sanders retired never getting the Detroit Lions to where he wanted to take them and that was a Super Bowl. The Detroit Lions have tried everything to get going in the right direction, but things just keep falling apart for them. Once they started to win games Barry Sanders retired. They really haven't recovered from that and it seems it maybe a few years before they get back to that level again. The problems are many for the Detroit Lions. let's look over a few of them quickly.

One of the first problems in recent years the Detroit Lions have had is poor draft picks. many millions have been wasted on draft picks which in turn has put them further behind other teams in the NFL. You can't keep drafting poorly and expect to get to the top of the NFL. The second mistake is hiring the wrong coaches for the job. Many times you need to get the coaches to fit the personnel on the team. The Detroit Lions haven't done a very good job doing that either. Until they do those two things it could be awhile before the Detroit Lions are able to get back to the playoffs and give the Detroit Lions fans something to cheer about. Detroit Lions football has had many down years and hopefully they have turned the corner and are headed in the right direction and will continue to improve and get more of their fans to come back and watch Detroit Lions Football. The future for Detroit Lions football fans can only get better that's for sure.
